I Will Give You

My eyes perceive the foaming surf,
And windblown clouds across the sky;
     Rainbows, forests, gleaming turf,
Valleys deep and mountains high.

I've ears to hear a summer rain,
And children's voices bright with glee,
     Singing breezes through the cane,
A wondrous symphony.

My tongue and lips can speak, or kiss
A cheek or other lips; and sing
     Joyous songs, and know the bliss
Of flavors rare and teardrop sting.

Strong hands have I to work in wood,
Or take up pen and pages write,
     And clasp in prayer; and, oh how good
To toss a stone or guide a kite.

If you need mine eyes for seeing,
Ears to listen, lips for molding
     Words, sweetly singing; being
Helpless, hands for holding,

This very breath I breathe so deeply;
The heart which beats within my breast,
     All of the life that burns within me,
These I'll give you with the rest.
