Everything He Said Is True In fear we fled Jerusalem, Lest we be caught and share the fate, Of him we thought to be Messiah; Savior of our people’s state. A safe escape our only goal, On to Emmaus we were bound. We hoped to go unnoticed there; We hoped that we would not be found. As along the road we walked, We met a man with whom we talked. He told us strange and wondrous things, From Holy Writ the deep meanings, Of revelations old and new, Of what our Savior had to do; How he must suffer long and die, To live again in God on high. Our hearts within us burned it seemed, With understanding clear and deep, That in his death we were redeemed. Then we awoke as from a sleep, And recognized him, face to face. He vanished then without a trace. Back to the upper room we sped, To tell the others what we’d seen, And what we heard and now we knew, That he had risen from the dead, How from the Scriptures we had gleaned, That everything he said, is TRUE. |
