The Chorale Reef
I've sung my song beneath the sea
Since many million years ago.
I sing to urchins and anemone,
To parrot fish who come and go.

My song is life to baby fish,
To moray eels and lobsters too.
To live in peace my only wish
Down in the lovely ocean blue.

Visitors sometimes come by.
I've seen some sharks and octopus.
Once I saw a porpoise die
Peacefully, without a fuss.

My realm is usually quite calm
Until a human comes in view,
Then all my people show alarm
Because of what the divers do.
I can't help being beautiful.
I know you want to capture me.
I pray that you'll be dutiful,
Will look, then go, and let me be.

Without our reef what would Earth be?
A useless, barren ball of sand.
Just dirt and sky and empty sea.
I only hope you understand.

So let my people sing our song,
Our chorale beneath the sea.
We serve the purposes of God
And let you glimpse His majesty.
