33rd Anniversary

It was the year seventy six,
I found myself in quite a fix,
When you appeared within the mix.

I checked out all the people there,
Watching you to find out where,
You would sit, then grabbed the chair,

Right next to you so I could see,
If being next to you might be,
The start of something good for me.

It turned out my hunch was right,
For over time my Heart took flight;
From dark you turned my future bright.

At last in June seventy eight,
You became my lifelong mate,
'Til we arrive at heaven's gate.

Thank you for thirty three years,
Of sharing many smiles and tears.
And overcoming doubts and fears,

The day I took you for my wife,
I promised you that all your life,
I'll be with you through joy and strife.

Through thick or thin, smooth or rough,
We found out we are made of stuff,
To take us through, to love enough.

At times we laughed, at times we cried,
No matter what, we always tried,
To see things through and never lied.

We built a life on love and trust,
Of gold that's strong and does not rust,
To last until we turn to dust.

Thirty three lines I wrote to say,
I'd have it be no other way;
I'm grateful for our marriage day.
