For Whom Would You Give Your Life ?

Would you willingly, if not intentionally, give your life for a friend ?

Untold numbers of soldiers have done so on battlefields since ancient times. We give them posthumous medals and honors.

Would you willingly, if not intentionally, give your life for a coworker ?

Firefighters, Police Officers and other kinds of public protectors do so in the line of duty. We give them posthumous medals and honors.

How about for your child ?

Many have done so in natural calamities such as earthquakes and storms or as hostages in exchange for their children. We give them our shared sorrow.

Would you do it for a cause in which you believe ?

Some notables have: Saint Stephen, Joan of Arc, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr, to name a few; many more whose names are not familiar. We memorialize them.

Would do it for a group of complete strangers ?

Rescuers have done on mountains and in jungles and on vile city streets. We honor their sacrifice and create remembrances. Would do it to save a condemned murderer or rapist ?

Evil is rampant in the world. We decry the loss of life at the hands of evildoers.

Would do it for a group of complete strangers who despise you, spit upon you, revile you, accuse you, denigarte you, curse you, berate you, misjudge you, mock you, torture you, and finally ... crucify you ?

There is one who did and only He has returned from the other side to tell us that death has been overcome and true life awaits those who will simply believe Him.
