The Substance of God |
|
In the universe as known by us, everything is ultimately composed of some infinitesimally small component. Be it an atom, an electron, a quark, or whatever the finest scientific minds can detect, it gets a label. These "particles", for lack of a better term, are the foundation of every known thing.
Beyond the empirically proved and accepted things in our universe are those which many, if not most, believe to exist, but have yet to be quantified. For example; angels. It is a rare person who does not believe in beings we call angels. At the very least most believe in something we have labeled "spirits", no matter the type ... good or evil, etc. What are the foundational components of these entities ? Can they be identified and known by humankind ? If so, we still will not know what is the underlying substance of God who created them. It seems improbable that humans can ever comprehend God unless we can establish to our staisfatcion that we know what He is made of. Since He is, by definition, the source of all that exists; all the particles known and as yet unknown, He Himself must be of something else. Scriptures tell us God is love. If it is possible for God to have an underlying or foundational substance, Love is it. Sagaverus 2008 August |
