Is God Alone ?
In the totality of existence, our cosmos and any other cosmos or dimension, does there exist any thing or being which is other than God? Scriptures tell us God brought all beings, things, and even light, into existence from a state of nothingness. Obviously, nothingness was not nothingness if God WAS, for surely, God is/was not nothing. But He, presumably, was/is the only non-nothingness. Which means that we, along with all else that we believe exists, must be part of the somethingness brought into existence by God. But did God create a somethingness which is separate from Himself, or is all creation a variety of forms of expression or manifestation of the being called God ? If we are truly separate beings from God, what would happen if God ceased to exist ? Is it possible for God to cease to exist ? By our definition of God, as well as Scripture which tells us God is from everlasting to everlasting (a relatively impossible concept for a temporal being), no, God cannot cease to be. If we, that is, our inner beings or souls, are truly created out of "nothing" as separate and distinct beings from the Creator, then it matters not whether any single being, Lucifer for instance, is permanently and eternally destroyed or punished. On the other hand, if we are each a manifestation of God, a tiny piece of Him if you like, how could He settle for damning a single part of His own self ? Ergo ... by my reasoning we must be separate beings. Sagaverus November 2006 |
