What If ...?

What If .... Americans elected a leftward leaning anti-military president, who, in order to fund cherished dreams such as universal health care paid by government, decimated the military's budget and brought home U.S. troops stationed abroad ? And what if the Joint Chiefs, with support from key line officers and a select group of Congresspersons, staged a coup to rid us of a Commander In Chief they deemed unfit to serve the security interests of our nation ? WHO would be able stop them ? The U.S. Supreme Court ? How many tanks, helicopters and missiles does the court control ? America's outraged leftist media who want citizens guns taken away from them ? How many tanks, helicopters and missiles do the media control ? The churches ? How many tanks, helicopters and missiles do the churches control ? The People? Possibly, if they are sufficiently armed and aghast. Unlikely. World opinion ? Only if they formed a coalition of major powers to invade America. Would the rank and file members of the Armed Forces follow orders from their officers ? The Nazi military followed orders. The Bosnian military followed orders. The Sandanistas followed orders. The Soviet military followed orders. History, from Alexander through Idi Amin says soldiers follow orders from above. When you next have the opportunity to vote in an election, consider the possibility that depending on the outcome, it could turn out to be the last time you get to vote in any election ... ever.
