Racism

The social ills besetting Americans of African descent are often attributed by self-appointed "leaders" to slavery and its vestige, racism. If white American racism is responsible for the poverty, ignorance, illness, unemployment, hostility, criminal behavior, and out-of-wedlock births running seventy percent or more, how is it that nations on the African Continent, populated by blacks and ruled by blacks, exhibit the same widespread indicators without the presence of white American racists ?
