From newspaper items it appears that Jennie McConnell was involved in the Newark Social Scene. One of the clippings in November 1902 tells us her future husband Albert O'Neill attended a card party at her home. [Progressive pedro was a card game popular in the era.] Another clipping announces their marriage. She was twenty-nine years old when they married.

Author notes: Albert O'Neill fought in the 1898 US war against Spain for the liberation of Cuba. When he returned to Newark he became involved in the veterans organization. After their marriage, Jennie joined the Auxillary and actively participated in the organization. She served as an officer in several roles over the years.

   About Jennie's Life

Albert passed away in 1938. Jennie became ill and left their home on Hudson Avenue in Newark to move in with her son Bernard and daughter-in-law in Detroit. She was with them when her grandson Mike [Albert Michael O'Neill] was a baby. She lived long enough to see her granddaughter Kathy [Kathleen O'Neill (Hepburn)] born in November 1941, and the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. She died in 1942 in Detroit.
