Author Note: If Margaret Hepburn, already widowed once, married Henry Dick in 1712, she was surely born in 1694, not 1700 as often reported. A 1700 birth would have made her age 10 at first marriage; age 12 at second. If she was born in Maryland in 1694 when her father Patrick was about age 34, he must have emigrated before then and with a wife who was Margaret's mother.
