Obituary
Robert W Levitt, son of Abraham and Magdalena Levitt, was born in Somerset, Ohio, 13 October 1846,
and died in Columbus, Ohio, 17 September, aged 64 years, 11 months and 4 days.
Besides his aged mother, he leaves a devoted wife, one son, four daughters, two sisters and many
other friends to mourn their loss.
During the Civil War he enlisted in Co. G. 31st O.V.I., and served until the close of the conflict.
He bore the reputation of being a good and faithful soldier in all his duties.
The most of his life was spent in Somerset where he was a familiar figure.
But as a traveling man for many years, he made a wide acquaintance over the state and formed
many warm friendships. He was active and energetic in all his undertakins, and pushed his affairs
with great vifor. Being an extensive reader, his mind was stored with a large fund of knowledge,
that was used to (illegible) in the affairs of life.
He was not only kind and tender in his family, but had a thought for those about him and was
always ready to help those in need.
His last illness was of almost two years' duration, yet he accepted his afflictions with patience
and never murmured. His only anxiety seemed to be in regard to his family, that they might be
properly provided for. He will be missed, and for years to come his name will be mentioned yet
we believe only with respect and honor, which he possessed to a large extent while in life.
Author notes: the above obituary is copied from the family tree work of Yvonne Sickles who made
attribution saying it was in the possession of Michael O'Neill. There is indication of the name
of the publication which carried it in its pages.
