Note:
Caspar was a farmer who later emigrated to Louisiana. He hound[sic] it impossible to resist
offers of a new life offered by John Law's Company of the Indies. He and his family went to
Lorient, France to await passage to Louisiana. In June of 1721 he and his family sailed for
Louisiana aboard the L Durance. By December of 1721 the family was settled on the German Coast
on the banks of the Mississippi River in Louisiana. In the 1724 , we find the transition
of Dubs into Toups as follows; "Gaspard Toups, age 40, his wife and two sons of ten and twelve years.
They were again listed in the 1726 . His wife died between 1727 and 1727[sic], In May of 1728,
at the age of 45, Casper Dubs married Marie Barbe Kitteler in New Orleans. Father Raphael, a Capuchin
priest and vica general, officiated. Marie Barbe died in 1754.
