Author notes: [1] "Pisiquit" appears in many genealogies containing the location in Canada. "Pigiguit" is the correct spelling as evidenced by the simple act of searching both on Google.
Pisiquit = 3910 hits all genealogical sites
Pigiguit = 11300 hits mostly genealogical but some historical.
Additional searches for authentic Nova Scotia history and geography references turns up the historic settlement of Pigiguit in Hants County, NS. There is no official recognition of any place named Pisiquit. I imagine the name Pigiguit is pronounced like peejeegee, hard 'g'.

[2]] There is a family tree entry on the Internet which gives her death as 1830 in Louisiana, compared with many others which agree on 1814 in France. There is a passenger list entry for a Marguerite LeBlanc, age 40, who traveled to New Orleans in 1785, and another age 48, same year. If her, the births of her two youngest children in Belle-Ile would have been impossible. A total of five persons named Marguerite LeBlanc immigrated to New Orleans in the 1700s.

In addition, five persons named Marguerite Richard arrived in New Orleans between 1767 and 1785. One of them was born 1743 making her a perfect fit. She traveled with her two sisters Marie Richard, age 44, and Elisabet Richard, age 33, all with surname Richard. This is a mere coincidence and the family tree maker who posted the information did not dig far enough or compare all elements of the matter carefully enough. "Our" Marguerite LeBlanc Richard remained in Belle-Ile with her husband Joseph and preceded him in death by one year or less.
Joseph's Story

Joseph Ignace Richard was born at a time when France and England were in constant struggle for control of the area known as L'Acadie [Acadia}, and specifically the island to become known in our time as Ecosse Nouvelle, en Francais, and Nova Scotia in English, though the name is actually Latin for New Scotland. England won control of Nova Scotia. The Acadian French were expelled by deportation order. After the Acadians were gone, their lands and holdings were given to settlers from Scotland which is no doubt how the island became named New Scotland.

This map shows the situation in about 1750. France still had control of much of eastern canada but Britain had taken over the island of Nova Scotia with headquarters at Halfiax. The green circles represent pockets of Acadian French who were deported.
This destinations table from Wikipedia.org is from R.A. LEBLANC. Les migrations acadiennes, in Cahiers de géographie du Québec, vol. 23, no 58, april 1979, p. 99-124.
Joseph was a lad of about age 13 when the orders were carried out beginning in 1755. He and his family were presumably among the 866 Acadians deported to England where his mother Marie died in 1761. At the Acadian Home web site there is a list of deportees. The list includes many names in our genealogical records -- Blanchards, Landrys, LeBlancs and others, and lists these Richards:
Pierre RICHARD ["our" Pierre ?]
Jos. RICHARD ["our" Joseph Ignace ?]
Charles RICHARD
Paul RICHARD
Joseph RICHARD
Jean RICHARD
Jacque RICHARD

His family apparently journeyed from England to France to begin a new life. They settled at Belle-Ile-en-Mer, France, a "beautiful Isle at Sea" off the French coast.

In 1765 he married Marguerite Charlotte LeBlanc, another Acadian deportee from Nova Scotia who returned to France with her family. Their children were all born in France but at least one, Basile Marie Richard who became our ancestor six generations before mine, emigrated to the new Acadiana in Spanish Louisiana.

Belle Île from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

White dot: Location of Belle Île in France
Red dot: Location of the city Le Palais on Belle ÎleBelle-Île or Belle-Île-en-Mer (ar Gerveur in Modern Breton)—Guedel in Old Breton—is a French island off the coast of Brittany in the département of Morbihan, and the largest of Brittany's islands. It is 14km from the Quiberon peninsula.

Administratively, the island forms a canton: the canton of Belle-Île. It is divided into four communes:

Bangor , Le Palais , Locmaria , Sauzon

Geography: The island measures 17km by 9 km and has an average altitude of 40m. The coasts are a mixture between dangerously sharp cliff edges on the southwest side, the Côte Sauvage (Wild coast), and calm placid beaches (the largest being les Grands Sables (The great sands)) and navigable harbours on the northeast side. The island's climate is oceanic, having less rain and milder winters than on the mainland.

The two main ports are Le Palais (accessible by ferry from Quiberon) and Sauzon (accessible by ferry from Quiberon and Lorient).

There used to be forests on the island, but these have long disappeared due to increasing agricultural use of the land.

History: Belle Île was separated from the mainland about 6000 B.C., earlier than its neighbouring islands Houat and Hœdic. Archaeological finds from the Bronze Age suggest that the island enjoyed a large increase in population in this time, probably due to improvements in seafaring.

In the 9th century Belle-Île belonged to the county of Cornouaille. The island's fortifications were erected by Vauban on behalf of Nicolas Fouquet, prior to Nicolas Fouquet incurring the displeasure of Louis the XIV.

A large portion of the modern day population is descended from repatriated Canadian French colonists who returned to France after the loss of Canada to Great Britain during The Great Upheaval (le Grand Dérangement).
