Elephant Crossing

Elephant Crossing
written and illustrated by Toshi Yoshida

English translation by Susan Matsui

Interesting volume consisting of excellent and unusual illustrations which appear to have been done by a master with the colored pencil. All but a few pages are double spread images with two or three lines of text across the bottom.

The work is difficult to classify. It's not exactly a poem ... more like a personal ode to elephants ... based on a 'typical' day in the life of an elephant family. A bit of a mood piece.

The format is landscape, 11.5 x 8.5 inches, 32 unnumbered pages, printed on high quality, matte finish, plate stock. The hard cover replicates the dust jacket you see here and is laminated for library use. A delightful book to own.
